![]() ![]() ![]() That improved the sound greatly but it was still tonally off. I got and ///ADS 345is component system and replaced the speakers in the front doors. I realized quickly that the weakest link in the BMW DSP System was the speakers. This disabled dsp, even though the dsp amp still worked fine (but with no ability to access the internal equalizer).Ĭar sounded pretty much the same (crappy). I initially just swapped the factory head unit with a clarion one, to get more modern sources. Didn't you do like a complete head unit upgrade? My car is a bit of a hybrid as far the audio, and has been through a couple revisions. I have read alot of your posts on here and figured you would be a wealth of info if you happened to see the post. I would love to just gut the whole car and put in the widescreen 16:9, but with all the components, just too expensive to justify when you could spend half the money and get an all in one unit. Along with this project I am taking out all of the wood trim inside the car and doing a primer, 3 coats of clearcoat and a couple coats of silver to match the gear shift knob that I transplanted from an 07 3 series, that is wrapped in black leather and has the aluminum strip running up the middle of the knob.Īt any rate, if anyone has any links that they could direct me to, that might include pics of a similar procedure, or any advance warning of issues that I will undoubtedly run into, and could benefit from knowing about them in advance I would greatly appreciate it.Īnd please by all means, if the response is that it can not be done, atleast leave an explanation as to why, so I can try and use some innovation to get around it before I give i up on it. I will then wrap the custom faceplate in either felt, leather, or suede to clean it up. I plan to do this using either a lauan 6.2mm thick birch board up to a 3/4 inch thick birch dependent on how much depth I have to work with. I know that I will have to fabricate my own bezel/faceplate/enclosure to fill the space around the new headunit. What can I say I am a glutton for punishment. I know that there will be moments of frustration with this project, and I am sure that they will be accompanied by bloody knuckles, and yet I inted to do it anyways. So I decided that I would just trade the model I bought for a double din alpine dvd head unit, and pulling the mid, tape deck and dsp display, for a few hundred more dollars. Now after giving it more thought, if I am gonna rewire the whole thing any way, why install a single din head unit, even if I were to exchange it for a dvd motorized flip out model that would probably look pretty terrible right next to the mid and dsp with those bright amber/orange lights. With the intention of integrating my ipod touch I bought an alpine idx-100 with the intention of installing it in place of the tapedeck, and just pulling the dsp amp completely out of the car and running the wires from front to back while I was at it. I own a 99 black on black bmw 740i sport, with the dsp tapedeck system. ![]() ![]() First of all good day to any and all that may read and or respond to this thread. ![]()
